Debra Kirk at NTC has provided us with a summary of formal papers that will be discussed at the July meeting of the ECOSOC (UN) Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods. Due to current travel restrictions, the UN will not be holding a face to face meeting. Instead, discussion on the papers will be conducted by exchange of comments in writing. To enable, this the UN has imposed tight timeframes for submission of comments. Links to the full papers are included in the summary document. Amendments made to the UN Model Regulations as a result of decisions made by the Sub-Committee are generally adopted into the ADG Code, as a matter of course, in the next update following each release of the UN Model Regulations.
The Commonwealth Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Cities and Regional Development (DITCRD) represents Australia at the biannual meetings of the Sub-Committee and provides Australia’s official position on papers discussed at the meetings. In forming the official Australian position, DITCRD consult with a number of stakeholders, including the NTC.
If you have any issues to raise, please provide them to ABRI by COB Monday May 25th so that we can prepare an ABRI submission. You can also provide comments in the last two columns of the attached summary and return to me for inclusion in our overall submission. Where possible, please provide evidence to support your comments.
