Battery World has an Australia-wide reputation for our award winning national recycling program. This ensures we join with you, in reducing our footprint on the planet by making it as easy as calling into one of our stores to recycle, or responsibly dispose of dead batteries*, of any kind. This gives us all peace of mind we have disposed of your battery in an environmentally responsible way.  We don’t only recycle batteries, but can also assist with the recycling or disposal of old mobile phones and EPIRBs.  If you have an item that you aren’t sure about, give us a call and ask if we are able to assist.

(*Offer is for domestic usage and disposal of batteries. Battery World may need assistance to offset our recycling costs for batteries dropped off in commercial or bulk quantities.)

Australia has one of the fastest take-ups of new technology per capita than many countries in the world. Mobile phone recycler – Mobile Muster estimates that there are over 22 million unwanted mobiles in homes across the country and on average Australians replace their handsets every 18-24 months. That means there’s a lot of mobile phones and their batteries lying around in cupboards and drawers – not in use. Over 90% of the materials in mobile phones, batteries and chargers can be recycled. However if not handled well at the end of their life, they can be a threat to the environment.

Since the Battery World Community Recycling Program was initiated, over 8,000 tonnes of lead acid and other types of batteries have already entered the recycling process. That’s enough to fill the Sydney Cricket Ground 10 times over! Plus over 36,000 analogue EPIRBs have been collected for recycling since the digital changeover legislation.
